Born in Memphis Tennessee, where he started at the Music Highschool. During his time with the army, he was a trumpeter at the US-Airforce Band. At first in the US and later on in Spain, where he studied at the Madrid Conservatory. His main course was trumpet. In 1970 Charles Green came to the Netherlands to continue his studies at the Conservatory of Maastricht. Since 1981 Charles Green is main-teacher of trumpet and ensemble- and BigBand leader at the jazz departement of the Amsterdam Conservatory. Besides teaching and performing, he also writes compositions and arrangements. Regulary he performs with various ensembles at home and foreign stages. Since 1990 he is the conductor of BigBand Studentproof.
